Having been in the leadership development space for almost ten years now, I am more intentional about pausing, to allow growth to catch up with me, more than ever before. Looking back at my leadership journey, I realize I had the tendency to make decisions quickly, sometimes even too quick for my own good. Sitting with any problem has always been very uncomfortable for me. Trust me in some cases, there wasn’t even a problem, my analysis of situations with limited information, and the pressure I was continuously under to prove I had ‘what it takes,’ was the major problem. Interesting, isn’t it?
In my integral coaching journey, I learnt to create a safe space for my clients, to sit with their problems and fully understand them, before they could make a move. This has helped me develop capacity to sit with uncomfortable energy. I am now calmer and I enjoy engaging with others to understand their views and learn, instead of telling them what to do at all times.
This week, I invite you to practice sitting with uncomfortable energy, until you become comfortable, being uncomfortable. Remember, your growth lies out of your comfort zone!
