The choices you make, make you.” John C. Maxwell. The first time I read this statement, it didn’t sit well with me. As I meditated more and more over it, I realised how true the statement is: I am where I am today, not because of the family I was born in, not because of who liked me or who didn’t like me, but because of all the choices I made in life, both the good and the bad.
Whatever is not working well in your life, do not look on the outside, revisit the choices you made and review them: celebrate the good ones and resist the temptation to beat yourself for the bad ones and regret ever making them. Rather pick your valuable life lessons from them and move on. The secret is not in making only the good choices in life, but in managing the consequences of all your choices daily, to make sure they take you to where you ultimately want to be.
“Whether you are a success or failure in life has little to do with your circumstances; It has much to do with your choices.” Nido Qubein.
